I actually almost forgot to add this great East African Meat Recipe. I don’t know what I was thinking. I guess I was just concentrating too much on the other recipes.
Anyway, many cooks and chefs have already discovered the versatility of Mutura and Mahu, now you can make that discovery at home with these delicious African family recipes.
The best thing about Mutura and Mahu Recipe that a nice glass of red wine or Kenyan Spirit makes this meat even more irresistible. Whether its chops, roast or stew, Mutura and Mahu can be enjoyed anytime of the year with a great variety of drinks in Kenya
I have two ways of making a great Mutura and Mahu recipe one is simply roasted with herbs and the other is with vegetables. Both are excellent!
A hearty Mutura and Mahu recipe with Kachumbari and potatoes will give you great comfort in the cold months. This delicious stew served with fresh baked Kenya Ugali or sometimes called Sima is about as rustic African as you could possibly get.
INGREDIENTS TO MAKE MUTURA AND MAHU
3 tablespoons chopped onions
1/2 teaspoon chopped garlic
1 tablespoon oil
3/4 kg boneless forequarter of beef
1 green chili chopped
Salt and pepper
1 tripe approx. 200 gms
1 cup blood
METHODS TO MAKE MUTURA AND MAHU
Cook onions and garlic in oil until onions are golden brown. Cool them. Cut the beef into small cubes.
Mix with blood and season with salt, pepper and chili. Place the mixture in the uncooked tripe and tie both ends firmly.
Grill. Slice to serve. Traditionally this is served with ugali or githeri.

I have some beef stew meat and I want to cook it in the slow cooker anybody knows a good recipe?
I want to cook something different this time..I don’t want to put paprika, vegetable or tomatos in it..I want a different flavor combination. Thank you !
This one takes several hours to prepare, so make sure you have enough time before you want to eat.
POT ROAST OF BEEF (CROCK-POT)
2 to 3 potatoes, thinly sliced
2 to 3 carrots, pared and thinly sliced
1 to 2 onions, peeled and sliced
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 to 4 lb. brisket, rump roast, or pot roast
1/2 c. water
Put vegetables in bottom of crock-pot. Salt and pepper meat, then put in pot. Add liquid. Cover and cook on low 10 to 12 hours (high 5 to 6 hours). Remove meat and vegetables with spatula and thicken for gravy if desired.
Without vegetables: Season meat with salt and pepper. Add no liquid. Cook as directed
